King Beetle

I’ve always loved bugs! And I really love beetles! But my favorite has got to be the Hercules beetle. This illustration was based on a drawing prompt for the word, “crown.” I thought it would be cute to feature the mighty Hercules Beetle after a victorious battle. You can just hear him squeaking in the moonlight!

Hercules beetles are some of the cutest beetles out there in my eyes. They could easily be the KING of all beetles!

As for the art process, I learned so much working on this illustration. This is one of the images I loved the most because of the many breakthroughs I had while working on it. I just love the thick and chunky textured style featured throughout the image, from the beetle itself to the moon, branch and leaves.
