Broken Heart

This illustration was actually for a month long art challenge #peachtober21. The prompt was “hand.”

It took me a while to figure out what I was going to do, but when inspiration finally hit, I couldn’t wait to get started. This was actually a very fun illustration for me because I was trying many new things and I was also extremely excited to incorporate some Día de los Muertos / Day of the Dead vibes into my art.

Being of Mexican descent myself, I’ve always appreciated the holiday even though I’ve never personally celebrated it. I do, however, think it’s important to remember our roots and where we come from. Drawing this piece made me feel a little closer to my heritage as a result.
